My name is Vance Kotrla, and I make things. I am a writer, musician, filmmaker, and sometime acting instructor living in Los Angeles, but originally from Houston, Texas. I play in the band Sci-Fi Romance and this documentary here does a pretty good job by way of introduction.

I used to play drums in metal bands like Black Spiral, then I played guitar briefly in a metal band, and now I play acoustic guitar and sing in Sci-Fi Romance. I'm as surprised as anybody about how it's all worked out.

I am also a screenwriter, and have directed, produced, and edited a number of projects. As an actor I was blessed with a year of studying under Nina Foch, and I've relied on those experiences to help other actors as an instructor. I have an undergrad degree in Film from the University of Texas and an MFA in writing from USC.
